Claude Debussy: Pelléas et Mélisande
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Debussy’s birth in 2012, Charles Dutoit conducted the young musicians of the Verbier Festival Orchestra in a performance of the composer’s opera Pelléas et Mélisande. One of the most beautiful symphonic scores in the lyric repertoire, Dutoit and the orchestra collaborated with soloists Stéphane Degout (Pelléas), Magdalena Kožená (Mélisande) and José Van Dam (Golaud) in the main roles, who deliver a performance of artistry and emotional depth.
