Her “Du lieber Heiland du … Buss’ und Reu’”, with obbligato flutes, was a highlight in a performance wherein it seems churlish to select highlights. This was especially important for the soloists, who were given the freedom to use the stage’s space. Mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená took advantage of this. In her aria ‘Buss und Reu’ (‘Repentance and remorse’) her movements were a natural extension of her words, and her quirky gestures in ‘Sehet! Sehet, Jesu hat die Hand’ (Behold! Bývá pěvkyně Magdalena Kožená nejlepší v barokní hudbě, písních nebo v opeře? Do každého z těchto interpretačních oborů vnáší svým emotivním zpěvem enormní dávku mistrovství a opravdovosti. Po nedělním recitálu Kožené v pražském Rudolfinu se zdá, že její doménou je opravdu především stará hudba. more

Na Magdalenu Koženou je spolehnutí. Každý recitál je událost, připravená dramaturgicky i umělecky. Nejinak tomu bylo v pražském Rudolfinu, kde pěvkyně představila nový program, volně navazující na starší projekt raně barokních autorů. Tentokrát byl středem pozornosti Claudio Monteverdi. more
